Credit where credit’s due - I’m absolutely certain these guys are the work of FAT. I think I first saw them in an exhibition in 1999 called Stealing Beauty at the ICA.

Scratch that - I’ve just checked with Sam Jacobs - I was half right. I got the exhibition right but not the author, the figures were design by graphic designers Bump:
