The “Voronoi Shelf” by Marc Newson. Milled from a single piece of Carrara marble:
I think that if this proves anything, it is that it is clear now that it was a mistake build the Beijing Olympic Stadium in steel and that carving the whole thing out a single piece of marble would have, in hindsight, been the correct choice.

Last week the postcard advertising the exhibition of these Newson pieces in London landed on my desk. I take it as further proof that Newson is the most overrated designer EVER. What happens to the wasted marble cut-outs? Limited edition Marc Newson paperweights? Door stops?? I think the flintstones would be pretty stoked with their new living room decor.

Now that you mention it, it does have a kind of Hanna Barbera quality to it…
