We all know that architecure is a pretty slow so it should be no suprise that the music meme has only just hit the architecture blogs… John from Archidose issued the call and who am I to say no?

I’m addicted to that Fiery Furnaces album. It’s probably one of the best albums I’ve bought in a few years. I love bands that actually take the time to create real, cohesive albums - not just a collection of songs.

If you like Fiery Furnaces, you definitley should check out Australian band called (funnily enough) Architecture in Helsinki.
I think they are touring the US soon. Or they have just been there. One or the other.

I try to be pure in my editorial mission (and I’m ambivalent about lists — hey, I’m cantankerous about something innocuous and popular, are you surprised?), so I’ll leave tracks in your backyard:
Total volume of music on my computer:

i’m also a fan of architecture in helsinki….although sometimes i feel extraordinarily self conscious liking a band or song with “architecture” in their name.
they’re touring the US now. one of my friends just saw them in chicago and said it was amazing. everyone in the band played every instrument the band had.

Marcus - Outside of Wainright, Furnaces and Aesop Rock, you’ve picked some artists that I used to listen to but haven’t in a while. Maybe it’s time to revisit them…

Miss Rep:
I thought it may not make it up on your page…so thanks for posting it here. I will check out the wrens.
Jimmy:
We went and saw Architecture in Helsinki in Sydney at one of their first gigs - they were pretty awkward and unpolished but it was obvious by the passion that they played the triangle that they were going to go far…

Thanks but there’s only one ‘L’ in Life! We love the lyrical pretentiousness of Fiery Furnaces but it really wears over the course of the whole album. We were going through some boxes of burned CDs we had made from friends vinyl collection and found the apparently super rare Harry Mudie Meets King Tubby’s In Dub Conference Volume 1. We stuck in the computer and guess what? iTunes identified it. Not so rare after all.
