Very strange. About a year ago, when travelling in the French Countryside I was introduced to the band Noir Desir by the nice kids Millene and Thiery whose house we were staying in. To my anglo ears they sounded like a French Radiohead and later in the trip, in Toulouse i think, I picked up their album 'Les Visages de Figures'. A fine album, dark and brooding, I recommend it highly.
Then, like, yesterday I read that the lead singer, Bertrand Cantat had been sentenced to eight years in jail for murdering his girlfriend actress Marie Trintignant. Apparently he hit her over the head a few times in a jealous rage and subsequently became a case that rocked the France to its very core. It is a shame really because I liked their music and was looking forward to any new album they may have released. Maybe he will release some solo harmonica stuff from the inside, who knows.
Maybe it is not that strange after all. If some dopey hip hop fuckwit rapper with too much jewellery and too little talent got sent to jail for killing his girlfriend I would not be surprised in the least. I have different expectations for brooding rock stars though, especially the very cultured French ones, suicide I half expect, murder I don't.
Sorry I don't have a strip comic or picture or anything today, I am still trying to make everything on the website work properly, and that is taking up all my time...
